Cloth Diapering

cloth diapering

Diaper Stork believes in cloth for three reasons: comfort, cost, and convenience.

  • Comfort: 100% cotton is a natural alternative to some ingredients found in disposable diapers.
  • Cost: Babies go through 12 to 18 diapers per day as a newborn and 6 to 8 per day by toddlerhood. That’s 6,000 diapers in the landfill per child. That doesn't just cost you, that costs the environment.
  • Convenience: Cloth diapers can even lead to earlier potty training.

Compostable Diapering

So what does it mean to "compost diapers?" Can you just compost like you would food? Unfortunately, compostable diapers cannot currently be composted in your backyard because the compost pile is not hot enough to fully compost the diapers to safe levels. They also can’t be disposed of in your municipal compost bin since biosolids (poop) require a special compost process. By expanding composting options, we can keep thousands of diapers out of landfills.
